and added the "Efficiency" on the right, indicating how well each player used his time on the court.)

Comments and Observations

Overall results as expected, but the first half was much closer than it should have been.  KU was a bit tight after a long break.  Predictably, the team that had just played the day before was sharper to begin with but may have tired down the stretch.  The superior talent and fresher legs for KU resulted in a large margin of victory even though KU's best player (Wright) sat out much of the game with foul trouble.

Four Factor Analysis

  • eFG% - KU by 51-33%
  • TURNOVERS - Advantage KU by 24-15%
  • OFFENSIVE REBOUNDING - Basically even - KU by 29-28%
  • FREETHROW RATE (FTM/FGA) - OU advantage 31-21%
What did the difference in this
statistic mean to each team?

Scoring Margin Advantage Gained

Statistic Measured Kansas Oklahoma
eFG% 17.6
TO Rate 5.4
O-Reb% 0.2
Freethrows FT Pct   5.9
FT Attempts 1.9

CONCLUSION - Huge advantage for KU in the most important category, eFG%, was too much to overcome.  OU would have had to dominate the offensive glass and avoid wasted possessions, neither of which they did.
