| Offensive and Defensive Performance
Using the outcome of the game and the adjusted offensive and defensive efficiencies for each team, performance indicates (in PTS per 100 Possessions) how each team would have fared against an average team. That is, KU's offensive performance is how many points per 100 possessions KU would have scored against an average defense. This provides a standard performance we can compare across teams. | | Kansas | Baylor | | Off Perf | 142.0 | 126.1 | | Def Perf | 90.5 | 109.6 | | Overall Perf | 25.7 | 8.3 | | ANALYSIS: KU had a scintillating performance on offense and a solid outing on defense, while Baylor had an excellent offensive performance but very poor defensive one. It all resulted in an elite overall game for KU but only a good one for Baylor. (Remember, those are all compared to an average NCAA team.) When KU had the ball, not only did KU have about as good a performance as possible, there was a good portion of it due to Baylor being a below-average team defense. When BU had the ball, it was a slightly more even matchup. Believe it or not, the numbers suggest that BU's offense was more above average than KU's defense was. | Four Factor Analysis(actual statistics moved down)

COMMENTS: The single biggest contributor to victory for KU was its advantage in eFG% followed closely by the huge rebounding edge. The blowout would have been even more complete if not for the Baylor advantage in TO's. KU did give up 52 eFG%, so this really wasn't anywhere near a solid defensive outing for this season's KU team. | |
